Tony Ioppolo DVM
Veterinarian and Owner
Dr. Tony Ioppolo knew he was going to be a veterinarian from a very early age.
Growing up on a small hobby farm in Louisiana, he got to experience firsthand
what it felt like to save an animal’s life.
Those early experiences led him to Louisiana Tech University, where he obtained
his undergraduate degree in Animal Science, with a minor in Chemistry. He then
returned home to Baton Rouge to attend Louisiana State University, earning his
Doctorate in Veterinary Medicine in 2008.
Dr. Ioppolo began his intrepid career practicing at several large veterinary
hospitals across the southeast, before deciding to settle down in Southern Pines in
2011. After establishing a profound reputation as an associate veterinarian, he
acquired Pinehurst Animal Hospital in 2018. His mission was driven by a
commitment to his patients and clients, to offer quality and personalized medicine
to every pet that walks in the door.
Dr. Ioppolo’s dream has always been to help as many pets as possible, thus the
inception of Urgent Vets for Pets. He is excited about the future of emergency
medicine in a boutique setting.
Dr. Ioppolo’s clinical interests include soft tissue and lifesaving/emergency
surgery, ultrasonography, dentistry, and client education. He says the most
important part of veterinary medicine is the human animal bond and says his
favorite part of the job is “seeing people smile when their pet starts feeling better”.
He is member of the North Carolina Veterinary Medical Association, American
Veterinary Medical Association, and is currently serving as the Moore County
Animal Cruelty Investigator. He volunteers much of his free time controlling the
pet population by spay and neuter and shares his veterinary expertise with multiple
rescue groups in the area.
Dr. Tony enjoys just about everything outdoors, especially fishing, hiking,
watersports, horseback riding, and playing golf. He loves to travel with his family
but makes his trips short so that he is never away from his three Rhodesian
Ridgebacks for too long.
Emily Reinier DVM
Veterinarian
Dr. Emily Reinier obtained her undergraduate degree in Molecular Biology, with a minor in Chemistry from Appalachian State University in 2012. After taking a few years off to work and travel, she attended North Carolina State University College of Veterinary Medicine where she obtained her doctorate in 2019.
After graduation, Dr. Reinier moved to Watertown, New York with her husband where she worked at a small animal general practice for 3 years. Her, husband, their 4 cats, 4 dogs, and 2 horses then moved back down south where they ended up in Aberdeen NC living on their dream farm!
Dr. Reinier’s clinical interests include clinical pathology/cytology, surgery, and emergency medicine.
During her free time, Dr. Reinier enjoys riding her horses, hiking, spending time with family, and binge watching incredibly trashy TV shows.
Jessica Fair
Certified Veterinary Practice Manager
Jessica has had a passion for veterinary medicine since the age of 12 when she began volunteering with a large animal vet during the summers. As time went on she began working at a 24 hour mixed animal practice where her passion for emergency medicine grew. In 2019 she earned the designation of Certified Veterinary Practice Manager, becoming one of just 700 in the country. She enjoys developing teams and helping them to provide the best care possible for our patients.
When not at the Practice she enjoys spending time with her fiancé, riding their horses, renovating their home and taking naps on the couch with their German Shepherd, Leo!
Lora Rogers
Veterinary Assistant
Lora’s passion for veterinary medicine began in Ocean Isle, at an exotic and small
animal hospital near the beach in 2001. After being there for 5 years, Lora moved
to Southern Pines and started a job at Pinehurst Animal Hospital, where she has
been a member of the team now for since 2006. Her dedication to the
profession has given Lora the opportunity to embark on a new adventure, and her
vision for Urgent Vets for Pets has played a significant role in its early success.
Throughout the span of her career, Lora has worn many hats, but she says she
enjoys caring for the patients the most. Lora is currently sharing her time between
Urgent Vets for Pets and Pinehurst Animal Hospital, where she serves as the Lead
Veterinary Nurse.
Lora’s clinical interests include surgical preparation, anesthesia monitoring,
emergency and critical care, and client education. She also believes passionately
about pet population control and volunteers her free time assisting with spays and
neuters for local rescue groups.
On the rare occasion Lora has a day off, she can be found on an outdoor adventure
with her family, her three Rhodesian Ridgebacks, and a Russian Tortoise named
Speedy.
Janine Schroeder
Veterinary Assistant
Janine has been a Veterinary Assistant for 32 years. She started out at a small animal practice specializing in avian, then continued at a all animals specialty hospital in Southfield, MI. In 2014, she moved to North Carolina and continued in veterinary care. Janine fosters many pets for local rescue leagues as well. She has many pets of her own and loves her farm in Carthage.
Brittany Byrd
Veterinary Assistant
Briany has worked as a veterinary assistant for 6 years. Her passion for horses helped begin her career
as a large animal veterinary assistant. Aer a year of working in large animal she was given the
opportunity to broaden her knowledge by working in a small and large animal pracce. While working in
small animal Briany gained a love for radiology and orthopedics. On her free me Briany enjoys riding
her two horses and spending me with her best pal Dallas
Karen Lloyd
Veterinary Assistant
Karen is a native of North Carolina and grew up in Seven Lakes and Jackson Springs. She has worked in veterinary medicine for over 20 years and helped to open a new practice in Cary NC in 1994 where she began her veterinary career as a receptionist/assistant. Karen attended Central Carolina Community College in Sanford, NC and received her Associate in Veterinary Medical Technology in 1997. She completed her BS in Biology with a Chemistry minor at the University of South Carolina in 2001.
Karen has worked in both small and large animal practice, emergency, and in pharmaceutical research with primates. She volunteers with the Pet Responsibility Committee on “Pet Day” helping to educate residents in some of Moore County’s more rural communities that lack veterinary care. She is allowed to share her home with Boss cat Eva, Maxx, and Topsail Island rescue kitty, Nemesis. Karen also has 5 barn cats—Roman, Riley, Ader, Belle, and Pearl (the fab five) and maintains a small feral colony on her mother’s farm. Karen enjoys the beach, gardening, and reading.
Sara Price
Veterinary Assistant
Sara is a technician at Urgent Vets for Pets and has been in the field for about 3-4 years.
Her and her husband have two dogs named Chewy (Rottweiler/Lab mix) and Penny (Pitbull).
She became a technician to learn as much as she can before going to veterinary school. She is
originally from Florida and is currently a student at the University of Florida studying
microbiology and cell science. She hopes to be an exotic/aquatic veterinarian after vet school
but still has a love for small animal practices. Her favorite pet of veterinary medicine is surgery
and emergency medicine. In her spare time, she loves reading and doing anything outdoors or in
the water.
Jessie Glover
Veterinary Receptionist
Jessie moved here from Nashville, Tennessee in 2021. After almost a decade working with animals, she knew she wanted to make the switch to veterinary medicine. She has been a veterinary receptionist for a year, and is currently training to become a veterinary assistant. Jessie is a proud military wife with four fur babies (2 dogs, 2 cats). In her spare time you can find her hiking, kayaking and spending time with family.
